Part 1: Why being rich isn't the goal
We’ve all heard it before “I just want to be rich.”
But what does that actually mean? A big house with a pool? A shiny car parked out front? Maybe being able to shout a round at the pub without checking your account balance first?
For most people, being “rich” means having a big income and an even bigger lifestyle. But here’s the catch, being rich doesn’t mean being secure. In fact, the richer someone looks, the more likely it is that their lifestyle is built on a treadmill they can’t step off.
Rich people often earn big, spend big, and need to keep earning big just to maintain it. It’s high income, high stress, and high risk.
Lose the job, the business, or the bonus, and the whole thing can crumble faster than a pack of Tim Tams in summer.
The truth?
Being rich is temporary.
It’s loud. It’s shiny. And it’s fragile.
Wealth, on the other hand, is quiet. It’s patient. It’s built to last.
Being wealthy doesn’t rely on your next paycheque. It doesn’t demand longer hours or bigger sacrifices. Wealthy people don’t need to work; they choose to.
And that’s what this three-part series is all about, unpacking what it really means to build wealth, live freely, and create security that outlasts your career.
Because the goal isn’t to look rich. It’s to be free.
Next month: We’ll dive into what real wealth looks like, and why most truly wealthy people don’t look rich at all.
At Cruz, we don’t just help people grow their money, we help them design a life that lasts longer than their payslip.
